Today's culture, we have to know how, why, where, when, and who. As women raised in our own cultures, we have our own customs. I was taught, all drums are sacred and women are not to touch them. They are considered the same as eagle feathers, much power and you have to have that right given to you by an authorized person. Just a Hidatsa thing. Respect, Honor, Generosity and Love are the four aspects of my life, pass it on.

Great to see the kids practicing, learning off the beautiful dancer, these days when kids aren't interested in any thing other than video games or any thing constructive,it really shows why our culture will not die Osceola

It's not the chidrens' fault ! Our people , i take it needs to amuse themselves ,

they need more "Jokes" , "laughs" in the form of switchdancing or Hip Hop in

regalia ! These children want to learn so they can take the culture in the

next generation . But the people needs jokes and laughs ! Just like the "Romans"

when they had gladiators .

Just think of it as this, burn your bras, have sex with your sisters and change into a man. Maybe that's why the hoop is broken. Can't we respect our own medicine and honor our grandfathers. There is a reason for everything and I hope later generations really think about that power.

White people have a tradition of beating women. Traditionally, women can't vote federally. Traditionally, women couldn't work outside the home. Perhaps some traditions should be left in the past. There is respect for tradition, but there is also embrace for change. Respecting tradition does not mean ignoring opportunity for positive change.

It's not traditional for a woman to touch the drum. Beautiful girls, but that's disrespectful.

So much for tradition, there are women and girls singing, we aren't supposed to touch the drum. Can someone please let them know that. Keep our traditions strong!
