  • @mroldnewbie They are actually part of the shark family as well. Stingrays, Skates, Mantas, and Sharks are all part of the same family of cartilaginous animals. (i.e they have mostly cartilage instead of bone.)

  • @marjqqq That's stingrays, Manta's are not poisonous.

  • @Manga3145 They have their origin from a stingray type of ray. Mantas often have a vestigial spine near the root of the tail, but normally it's covered with skin - so it's useless. It's more like a reminiscence of their stingray ancestors. I don't think their tail has any real purpose, and they sometimes lose much of it.

  • @Manga3145 the tail is poison

  • I was snorkelling in Australia along a rock wall with a strong outgoing tide that was pulling me out to the ocean at a strong walking pace when one swam right past me, no more than 3 metres away, It snuck up on me like a dark storm cloud. It was about 5 metres wide and it scared the heck out of me as i thaught for a split second that i was dinner.

  • Thats not that big of a manta. They can get to be around 20 feet across.

  • R u dumb??? Tht is tiny

  • wowawewa

  • we saw one fishing that was 10 feet wide
