An elegant practical solution to repairing errant holes in your otherwise perfect sheet metal. Rather than plugging a hole with yards of .023" dia. steel wire with a M.I.G. welder and using up your favorite type of grinding discs, patch the hole with a small sheet metal plug. First Identify what holes don't belong. Clean up the edge with file or tapered reamer. Determine what size. Cut your plug. Set inside hole and plannish till plug is locked in place. With an oxy/acetylene torch or T.I.G. welder weld joint. After that plannish weld till smooth, but not too much as you don't want a bulge on your nice patch work. Done with enough practice you will have no need to pick up a grinder. At the most you may need to dress the area with 80 grit DA paper.

Hole size-5/16" dia. in 19 gauge steel
Plug size-9/32" dia. 18 gauge steel
