Here is a quick performance test of the AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Processor.

I'm running this processor at stock speeds (3.0 GHz). I did overclock this processor before to 3.6 GHz, but it is fast enough for me so I left it at 3.0 GHz.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them!

Computer Build:

Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H
AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb @ 3.0GHz
Western Digital Caviar Black 640 GB (Vista Ultimate)
Western Digital Caviar 320 GB (Linux Ubuntu)
Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 1GB GDDR5
RAIDMAX SMILODON ATX-612WBP
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066
Corsair CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V
ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm

Enjoy!

  • Get an onscreen recorder.

  • @terrystutorials This video was recorded a long time ago, before I had one.

  • i got this same cpu and it's black edtion but im not sure if it's blackedtion... cause i could't find the multiplier in my bios and cpu-z does't detect it's blackedtion

  • @FELIX0123 All Phenom II 940's are black edition processors. They were at the top of their chain when released, and thus all X4 940's have unlocked multipliers. If you did not overclock a processor before, I would suggest reading up on how to do it properly before attempting to overclock this processor (voltage is important to understand when overclocking).

  • what program do you use for the core temp reader does it come with vista i cant find it

  • @jrjtuber This program does not come with Windows. It is called CoreTemp and you can download it for free from the internet. Just search for it on Google. However, CoreTemp does not support all processors/motherboards.

  • nice processor

  • The best Sony Vegas ;)

  • @MrDeano324 cpus have sockets a motherboard with a socket same as the cpu is mostlikely going to be compatible(95% of the time), but still once you already chose the motherboard and the cpu you want, check on the motherboard's company website to make sure the cpu is supported by the motherboard,.(and go to google to learn more.,)

  • How do you know whether the CPU will be compatible with your motherboard?. Are there certain things you have to look for?. Thanks for any help.
