UPDATE (28.09.11). Frayed Knights has now been released and is available for purchase at http://www.frayedknights.com, and if you want to try before you buy there's also a demo to download from the same website.

What about a brand new turn-based PC RPG that doesn't take itself too seriously? Judging by the demo/"pilot" version, Rampant Games' "Frayed Knights" is a nice little game that both CRPG newcomers and veterans can enjoy. The game mechanics may be relatively simple compared to the classics of the genre, but it's certainly refreshing to see an indie developer making 3D/first person RPGs with turn-based combat.

Note: In order to read the text, you need to switch to the "high quality" viewing mode.

Do keep us posted on the progress :)

  • Yes, If the developer Jay Barnson releases more versions I plan on recording them as well. Since this doesn't exactly appear to be his day job, it might take a while before we see the next release, so we'll just have to be patient.

  • i think there is nothing wrong with its humor. those characters are just like my mates playin dungeons and dragons , they always complaning about my my ratsinthebasement quests for some reason :D

  • yea the comedy and goofyness kinda ruins what looks like it would be an excellent game for people who like that genre. I've been waiting for a new game like this. Still might try it...as soon as I beat Arx Fatalis.

If there is a sequel it would be perfect if it was more serious and had realistic characters.

  • how long is the pilot download?

  • it done????

  • i hope it will be finished one day unlike cleve blakemor's Grimoire...

    btw Wizardry forever! :)
