Many believe they can practice yoga postures, breathing, and focusing techniques devoid of yoga's spirituality, not realizing that yoga is an inherent part of Hindu philosophy which teaches man and nature are one with divinity.

Today, yoga is experiencing a worldwide renaissance and in America has more than 70,000 yoga teachers working in 20,000 locations. Although viewed primarily as fitness instructors, these trainers are in reality the leading missionaries of eastern religion in the west. The twenty-seven billion dollar a year yoga industry is marketed to students, athletes, businessmen, pregnant women and senior citizens promising solutions for stress reduction, concentration problems, and issues of self confidence.

Once viewed by Christians as a pagan import from the East, yoga has now become mainstream in the church through "Christ-centered yoga classes" designed to help improve spirituality and experience "the presence of God". But is yoga's mysticism compatible with historic Christianity?

dont waste your time on this one, historical angle is interesting but certainly dated and bound by fear and a strong christian bias (leaves behind even the other two monotheistic western traditions). and as far as authenticity...total rubbish. one sided view of yoga without any knowledge of the 6 classical schools of india that have transformed and grown side by side and debated tirelessly over the nature of reality. dualism has its proponents as do non-dualists, qualified dualists, etc

Tried yoga, TM, drugs, etc. Found what I was looking for in Jesus Christ.  No exercises, medetations for years and years, just simple child like faith in Him.

"Be still and KNOW that I AM GOD" , this is in the Bible. This is the essence of Yoga. What I hear and see in these video clips is fear and insecurity. If you fear Yoga, you don't belong on that path. You may feel more comfortable with these people presenting these documentaries. If you want scary, read biographies of the Christian Saints, now there is the thread that connects Yoga and Christianity.
