Keith Chapman plays Joshua by Fela Sowande on the Rodgers 985 Organ with Kurzweil 250rmx in 1989. This was part of a series of recordings made by Keith Chapman for Rodgers and Robert Tall & Associates, and is this was recorded the night before Keith and his wife boarded the small, private airplane that would claim their lives in a tragic accident.

My apologies for how bad the pic looks...it was the only pic of Mr. Chapman that I could find on the net...at least of his face.

  • I thought the 985 was a classical model, but this track sure sound like a theatre organ to me!

  • I think alot of the theatre sounds are coming from a sound module

Joshua fit de battle ob Jericho, for organ. London: Chappell, 1955.

  • Anybody know if this is was ever published?

  • First impressions - this is wrong, wrong wrong. He must have shredded the score and played this as a last fling Fela Sowande's version recorded in Kingsway Hall in 1952 should be heard. I have this for anyone interested along with others by this great Nigerian composer.

  • I've never heard of this before. Where did you find it?

Incidentally, I don't actually like it, which is unusual for a Chapman recording...kind of a crappy last recording, when you think about it.
