Wonderful music to my ear

@Andreask93 i dont know, the mark45 5 inch (127mm) can be used for anti surface ship, naval gunfire of shore, and some limited air defence.
-
@apoure25 yes, it can handle anything from jet fighters, to cruise missiles.
-
@juiceis7777777 The 57mm has a programmable air-burst round, that can do far more damage then the old 76mm. Also, it has a much faster rate of fire.
-
@badgerattoadhall It would be to impractical. A gun of that magnitude is only good for shooting at other large ships, and now we have missiles that are better and faster, then a big bulky gun with a slow fire rate and that misses it's target half the time. This smaller gun is faster, and better at taking out small fast moving targets like speed boats.

interesting. so would this gun have any anti-air capability?
-
Wow...this thing rocks! I was on VALIANT for three years (post-MMA), and we used to refer to the Bushmaster as the "bang-click-s--t" gun 'cause that's about all it would do...bang, click click click...."Aw S**t".
-
why not go with a 127mm gun?

One reason not to transfer the Perrys is that they are getting old. That's why they're in the Reserve Fleet to begin with. I don't think the Coast Guard would get the respect they deserve if it got old hand-me-downs while the Navy gets LCSs and Zumwalts.
The 76mm had a rate of fire of 80 rounds a minute, which is nothing to sneeze at. However it used 4 different types of ammunition. The Mk 110 57 mm gun is a multi-purpose, medium caliber gun. The Mk 110 is based on the Bofors 57 Mk 3. The Mk 110 can fire salvos at up to 220 rounds per minute, and has a range of nine miles. The weapon has a smart programmeable fuse with six modes: contact, delay, time and 3 proximity fuse modes.
