Quran - Chapter of Repentance - 9:29 - Jizya

Let The Quran Speak -
This verse speaks about Jizya. Jizya is a tax that is paid by non-muslims who live in an Islamic state.

Chapter 9, Verse 29
"Fight against those who do not believe in the last day and do not consider permissible that which God and His messenger make impermissible and do not and do not subscribe to the religion of truth from among the people of the truth until they pay the jizya out of hand while they are subjected."

able-bodied, healthy, wealthy non-muslim males who r not in debt have to pay a small tax, no children or women, they DONT have to serve in the military.

Muslims have to pay the zakat (takken from your salary, land, lifestock, food, jelwes, etc.), (and some cases Khums, a fifth of your salary), and do have to serve in the military.

Muslims have to pay more for there devotion to God and willingness to help the poor.

@wajidmajid You are wrong. The Jizya was well after the other verses in the Chapter Tawbah was revealed. If you read the Ulama they say this. Plus it is well known that the Ulama have said that the one who doesn't pay Jizya must be fought. The Messenger said: "If they refuse, then seek Allah's help and fight them."

In Canada, we're not allowed to kill ANYONE! Christian, Muslim, or otherwise. Murdering people for not refusing to pay a humiliation tax, or if they've dishonored your family, or for any other reason, other than self-defense, is barbaric.

I would never pay jizya, and I would kill anyone who tries to kill me. Get it?!

@wajidmajid That's not what I asked. I asked what happens if they don't pay the jizya? The answer is, they are imprisoned. I live in Canada, and that tax is, absurd. A humiliation tax, with harsh consequences, to non-compliance.

@steevyp yeah buddy, muslims must pay charity yearly, so a non muslim in a muslim state who does not believe in God's law or commands, must pay a tax. Therefore society will prosper and poverty would not be a big issue. Regardless, fear your Creator, ALLAH most High and you will be pleased

@TheCompurgator we pay charity yearly, so that is checked off, the reason for Jizya is because non-muslims usually dont give Zakat (wealth taken yearly for Charity uses). And in a muslim state, those who are not muslims dont have that obligation of giving back, they may do so, but its not a must in their eyes.

@steevyp jizya is imposed on the non muslim who live under muslim rule. it doesnt apply in the west because they dont live under muslim rule. Muslim have a much higher financial obligation.
