This short video gives a glimpse into how TE youth organizers work to shift destructive dynamics in their communities toward a climate of hope, unity and action to solve issues that contribute to youth violence, and the significant impact that TE has had on young people and quality of life in three distinct urban communities: Rochester, NY, Boston and Somerville, MA.
Teen Empowerment's "youth organizing" model engages youth at three levels for more sustainable change:
(1) INDIVIDUAL (self-reflection as part of a community, behavior change processes, becoming powerful, inspirational role models to their peers)
(2) COMMUNITY (dialogue, building unity, community action)
(3) INSTITUTIONAL (civic engagement, voice in creation of effective policies that impact youth)
