Pi: Faith in Chaos

This scene is from the film Pi which is a story about Max Cohen--a mathematical genius who is at the brink of solving a mathematical mystery. The tagline, Faith in Chaos, refers to a string of messages compounded in a system of variables which arbiter chaotic movements in the stock market and other man-made systems. His discoveries are in the interest of a New York stock market company and a hasidic sect who try to coerce him into sharing his secrets. Instead Max is troubled by his own findings; he suffers from chronic migraines which lead to a brain hemorrhage. He grows more and more paranoid by visitors and followers. Eventually he drills his brain to free himself from his own discoveries.
