If Rock and Roll is based on the 12 bar I-IV-V progression, the verse of this song is one of the earliest examples of that. It is performed by Billy Murray and the American Quartet. Billy is considered the first "Recording Artist." You might recognize his voice from many of those "Follow the Bouncing Ball" cartoons, here's a small sampling of some of his other records.

  • I was searching WW1 for a school project and found this. I swear, it is the most beautiful song I have ever heard and can not help but get this great feeling every time I listen to it.

  • @zonedspace Hope you can work it into your project somehow. Glad you enjoyed it so much!

  • I watched this with the 1911 setting, my mind imploded.

  • @LuBuOWNZ I saw the 1911 youtube logo but didn't look into it more, were they really offering some filter that 1911-ized videos?? I gotta try that!

  • @upst8 add &vintage=1911 to the end of vids to do it.

  • @KittenSnipa - that's pretty funny - Thanks! My mind didn't implode , probably becasue they replace the audio with player piano

  • @LouSoufier But the difference is if Rebecca Black is forgotten, nothing of value is lost.

  • Thumbs up if this song reminded you of the Click Clock Wood Theme from Banjo Kazooie?

  • Billy Murray is truly a classic. It's amazing that 100 years ago he was a star and everyone knew his name and now he's been forgotten. Same can be said for any performers of that era and the same will apply for our modern performers.

  • @theraver2020 i second that, in fact a kettle on its last legs sounds or even metal screching being cut w. a high speed cutter is by far better than justin beiber

  • i'm watching this in 1911. yeah i have time travel bitches!

  • Thank you for posting. Totally awesome.

  • @theraver2020 Why even mention that dweeb?

  • Truly Awesome..Thanks a million..
