these horses love their job if they didnt they wouldnt make the cut. also herd mentality when they lose a rider they are still gonna stick with the other horses

steeplechase is so cool. like its really fun to watch and yeah, you would have to be insane too do it but it seems like so much more fun. I love how the horses without riders stay with the pack. I ride an Australian Thoroughbred and he raced on the track and did steeplechase for a few years. Hes 15 now but hes so powerful. Sometimes I let him do a little hand gallop but I'm scared of what would happen if I just let him go.

Some ppl might THINK the horse 'enjoys' running a race, but it comes down to insticnt, not enjoyment. horses are herd animals, and if the herd is on the move, they'll do anything to keep up. It's their flight instinct. Flat racing wouldn't be so bad if there was more regulation to protect the horse's welfare, but steeplechase is just blind cruelty. It's has been banned in many parts of Aus, thank gawd! Horses do enjoy a run, and they do enjoy jumping, but racing takes it to an unecessary extreme

sorry, but I think steeplechase and flatracing are cruel. starting horses when they're not fully developed and pushing them to unecessary extremes. Even if the horses do like it, it doesn't make it good for them, now does it? It's plain wathcing this vid how dangerous it is. Why risk a horse/rider's life like this? Steeplechse doesn't even have the same prize money as flat racing, so why do it?
