The iliacus and psoas major (a.k.a. iliopsoas) is a key player in low back and pelvis integrity. Tightness in these muscles will greatly impact the low back and pelvis. Doing this stretch regularly will help to keep these muscles long and supple.
This is completely wrong. Trying to stretch the iliopsoas in this position causes it to contract to stabilize the pelvic girdle. It has to contract to keep you in this position, so stretching it at the same time does nothing but strain, and possibly, damage it. And lifting your left heel makes it even worse as your body feels less stable.
Dad, I heard that dead people can read text on the informational super highway. Since you died, Dad, I have become very upset and confused about life and existence. Seeing as you were a physiotherapist, I thought I'd post this message on a physio-related YouTube video to try to reach you. I just wanted to tell you that I love you and I have also started a charity foundation in your name; the Gary LaMesma Disability Institute. I love you very much Dad. I hope that you get online and read my love.

Can i do this stretch without a warm-up? If no, what's a good warm-up for those muscles?
