This is from my HS senior recital that I did with my friend Emily Rew (her pieces are available on here as well). Another battle in the war between myself and the French language! Nonetheless, a lullaby, a beautiful song about boats and the quay. My favorite.

(2/28/09) As an update I'd also like to add that I do NOT condone all the funky straight tone sections in this song. Even though this is a sweet slow song, it should really have no straight tone whatsoever, especially not on those high notes. Do as I say, not as I do!

I now study private voice at the Peabody Conservatory and major in International Relations at the Johns Hopkins University.

N.B. PLEASE DON'T BASH THE ACCOMPANIST. He is a very good friend, a very accomplished pianist, and he played this entire recital for free when he had much more important pieces to be learning and things to do.

  • You go to peabody?

  • @ericbach1993 Long story..... But I actually go to Johns Hopkins, and study voice with a professor from Peabody. Of course this year I'm actually in Egypt and not studying voice at all..... meh oh well

  • you have a good voice...but don't mind me saying but you were flat in A LOT of places in this piece

  • @ronaldantoniosanchez I don't mind at all, only because you're right though! I had more work to do singing at this tempo than I thought and the straight tone just throws everything off, the song and my pitch!

  • TRES BEAU enfin un vibrato utilisé à bon escient comme ornement ponctuel et non tout le temps et donc qui ne casse pas les oreilles et ni la mélodie.

  • Your's is my favorite version of this song on youtube by far :)

  • Beaucoup trop lent! D'où des respirations anarchiques. Dommage

  • um wow! I'm trying to learn this song right now! Way to go!! Really good job. Hope i can sound as good as you!

  • fabulous video :) Great voice. Perfect mix of vibrato for my taste.

  • I think you have a beautiful voice for a beautiful piece and I respect that a lot because I am trying to learn that song (well I have just started) and it is not easy at all--and I speak French fluently! :)

  • I'm a senior in college learning this song for my senior recital. I just wanted to know that your randition is so beautiful that I have been using it as a reference recording for my own learning. This is beautiful, especially from a high school student. Brava!

  • gorgeous timbre! mezzo, yes?

  • I don't see any need to apologize for the straight tones, I like them actually. I'm not a big fan of Vibrato singing, especially when it's very heavy and overdone, which is probably why I avoid most lieder and nearly all opera! Great job thanks for sharing!
