Steve Monier, who heads up the U.S. Marshals service in New Hampshire, did me the courtesy of returning a call I made on Friday Sept. 21.
Here is my report on that conversation, which occurred the same day.

I had called to complain about the Marshals' arrest of Ed Brown supporter and nonviolent resistance icon Lauren Canario. She's a Winchester NH resident who they seized for attempting to walk down (I think) Stage Road in Plainfield. The road leads to the Brown driveway but is public. They released her the same day but confiscated her camera and the video she presumably shot of herself being arrested.

  • The Marshal asks what are the first 10 Amendments all about? Don't they grant rights to the People?

No,Mr. Marshal, the Bill of Rights were not a grant of rights from government to the People. They are a notice to the government from the People that thet claim these rights, among others, inherently belong to the People as free men and women; that they are NOT grants from the government, or they would be mere privileges, not rights; and that the government shall not invade those rights.
