yup, tacomas sure suck with their high safety ratings and dependability. The only reason they have frame rot problems is because they last so long, something eventually has to break. On most midsize domestic trucks its the engine or the tranny that goes out at around 150000 miles.

tacomas don't have crew cabs right? they only go up to double cabs. but, what's the difference with the crew and the double (like the tundra variations)? they're all a 4-door right?

Toyota should try stuffing the 4.7L V-8 in one of these.

I was just reading that Toyota is replacing the 4.7L with a more powerful and efficient 4.6L. It's supposed to offer 15/20 city/highway as opposed to the old engine's 14/17 city highway. It's going to be matted to a six-speed auto.

It wouldn't necessarily give you too much more hp, but would give you a lot better torque and towing capacity for not a whole lot less mpg.

The Tacoma is a great truck thats for sure. Before purchasing any truck you should go check out Tacoma world, its a giant forum of nothing but Tacomas, 1st and 2nd Gen. Just google Tacoma world on google and make a name on there and browse around, you will be amazed and the potential in these trucks!
