According to the World Health Organization, there are around 50 million cases of dengue fever around the world every year. About two and a half billion people, two-fifths of the world's population, are at risk. The disease is now spreading, along with the mosquitoes that carry it, into areas like Texas, in the United States -- far from the virus's tropical breeding grounds. Scientists at an independent research foundation in San Antonio, Texas have developed a new line of study they say shows promise in fighting the often deadly disease. VOA's Greg Flakus has the story from San Antonio.
