Iraqi oil privatized. US firms win no bid contracts to service oil fields. Haliburton and Blackwater making huge profits. Arab unity disintegrated. I think this is mission accomplished. At least the families of all the dead US service now know what their loved ones sacrificed their lives for. Too bad they wont see a dime of the profits.
CNN reported that it only costs around $4/barrel to produce a barrel in Iraq and 2.5million barrels a day at $142.18(July 1,2008). Round it off at $138/barrel profit x 2,500,000=$345,000,000 profit per day.
it was ok. the big points i remember from NPR story were that the american companies had already been helping the oil production process for a few years, and the reason for stepping up their presence now is that iraq's oil fields are hard to get to, so they require american technical expertise.
