It is also impressive that Ian's first song written so long back still carries its images and message.

barbara cannot put a foot wrong with me but this song blows my mind .

Barbara is a brilliant singer.
Such a relaxed technique. Her voice is so soothing and calming.
Not an ounce of strain on her face when she sings. And her voice matches the sentiment beautifully. Effortlessly expressing regret and reflection.
Barbara Dickson has the knack of singing songs that suit her and sticks to what she's best at.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty nice version, but lacks the starkness, regret & resination that Ian Tyson filled the song with.

Saw her at The Everyman in Liverpool way back when (JPGR&Bert). Quite a soundtrack, but she carried it all the way.
Another Liverpool connection - The Searchers do a beautiful version of this song, saw them do it in Ontario where it always goes down very well. Even better in Alberta!

Pure excellence!!!!!!!!!!!

Britain's best female singer, bar none. She has an incredible gift for choosing good, classy songs - and this is amongst her best. Who else could put together a live show with Scottish laments, musical numbers, hymns, pop, cajun - and make it look effortless. A true star.
