  • Don't forget Jimmy Garrison on bass. I have heard many versions of this by Coltrane, and by other groups. However, this one is becoming one of my favorites, because of the way the group goes into a half hip 3/4 beat (sometime during McCoy's solo), and Coltrane's bold, take charge tenor sax return. The group is right on queue with him, (even though each members performance could be a solo). The first time I saw this video come to an end reminded me of why I've loved this music all my life!

    Hi there,

It was August 1st but it was a very cold night. Due to the lights they started to clearly steam!

  • Looks very hot or cold in there judging by the steam coming off the musicians heads.

  • Man ,youtube is burning down about now. This is hot as hell. And COOL at the same time. These men are masters.

  • Lol. They are like the most famous jazzmen of all time :D

  • 'They' say that American's don't do irony. If you are looking for evidence just read the rest of the comments above.

  • What do "they" say???

  • You're kidding, right? Everyone who listened to jazz "heard of"'em. (Coltrane was dead two years after this clip. McCoy is the only surviving member.)Most of these clips of American jazz musicians are from European television; they were never featured on TV in the USA w/ the exception of local public television like "Jazz Casual", notwithstanding Ralph Gleason's pipe-smoking lameness.
