It was a brilliant chapter in American cycling history! This was perhaps the biggest media focused cycling event to take place on American soil (excluding the '96 Olympics). LeMond took on everybody in what sadly would be his last major win of his career.
Great post. Note how LeMond is never too sure in his predictions how he'd do. Seems he knew he was slowly fading and had bad days more often than before. But he pulled off a great win on U.S. soil, lead pellets & all...:-) Thanks for the memories, Greg!

its interesting to see this because of the posistion the guys have on thier bike..note the elbows are much further pressed forward than riders are the days..the bars are really jacked up high too...still very 80s looking..this was the last time lemond shined..it was all down hill for him after this race..sad end to his career, i hear him in intergviews and he is still upset how things turned out

What a great champion! I just love cycling from the 80's and early 90's. Brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for posting
