These clips have SPOILERS from the 2001 TV movie Chasing Destiny in it (Part 2 is the credits with an awesome song "Free Like Angels").

This aired before his 15th birthday making him 14, but it was filmed when he was 13 Drake said.

Drake has also said in more than one interview that Roger Daltrey helped him learn guitar and to look cool doing it, not formal lessons or anything but helped him with some difficult cords and things.

I can't believe another Drake fan has not put up the very first time Drake ever sang before! I hope you Drake fans like it! Okay I know you will, so please rate and COMMENT!!!

Drake's singing content is short but sweet, plus we get to hear how he sounded when he was just a youngin.' Drake sounded soooo sweet when he sang his second song called "Jessy." I just wish he sang the whole thing ALONE! LOL!

Drake's lyrics for "Walter's Song"
They keep me in school too many hours a day.
Teachers lookin' good in her tight blue suede.

The solo part Drake sings for "Jessy"
Jessy my girl you're from heaven above, how I love you babe.
I know in my heart that I know what love is because of you.

These are a few separate clips of Drake from the movie. I don't think he is actually playing the guitar in this movie since in the credits for "Walter Song" is credited with being performed with Kelly Keeling (a guitarist), but who is not featured in that scene. Also I remember Drake saying something to the effect that he learned guitar to look more realistic, implying he was not really playing the guitar at the time. But I am not positive either way.

This is a nice movie, for a sappy chick flick, if you like that sorta thing. To let you know the basics in case you are wondering what is going on. Jessy's Dad, Jet James (Christopher Lloyd) [not pictured in these clips], is terminally ill. Jessy James (Lauren Graham) comes to town to say goodbye. Nehemiah Peoples (Roger Daltrey) and Jet were in a famous band in the 60's, called Jet James and the Burning Prairie Band. Walter (Drake Bell) gets guitar lesson from Jet and Nehemiah. Burning Prairie Band's biggest song was "Jessy" sung by Drake Bell, Roger Daltrey, and others at the end of the film. Jessy meets Bobby (Casper Van Dien) and they fall in love, blah blah blah mush mush mush.

It was sure nice seeing Casper is in just a towel for a few minutes, yowza, hot stuff!

****The rest of the band for those interested****
Roger Daltrey - Nehemiah Peoples (the bass guitarist) {still the lead singer for The Who}

Carmine Appice - Rock Legend (the drummer) {former drummer for Vanilla Fudge}

Kelly Keeling - Band Member #1 (the electric guitarist, furthest right) {currently singing with Don Dokken}

Denny Laine - Band Member #2 (the acoustic guitarist, furthest left) {former lead singer for The Moody Blues and co-founder of Wings with Paul McCartney}

Ellis Williams - Winston (the bongo player) {character actor, formerly Henry Hugley from The Hughleys}
***************

When I like an actor enough I always go back to watch whatever I can find even if they's a youngin' tee hee! Then there's the added benefit of Drake singing for the first time!

  • I'm pretty sure this is from the 90s. Drake Bell is in a pokemon commercial and he looks way older.

  • @TheresPooOnMyShoe As the description says, this is a 2001 TV movie. Wiki says the Pokémon commercial was in 1999. His hair may make him look older in the Pokémon commercial but he's not.

  • @Starquestme so you're going to believe everything your description says? I could write down that Star Wars Episode 4 came out 2001 and you'd probably believe that.

  • @TheresPooOnMyShoe I researched this movie description and "2001" is on the DVD box. Drake may have filmed it in 2000 maybe even 1999 (which I doubt 1999) but he didn’t look much older in the 1999 Pokémon commercial, his hair just looks much different. Don’t be so uptight what’s the difference?

  • he so cute

  • @yosef9420 Yup! :-)
