Interesting film. Im not sure if it was very effective at stopping heroin use but it's an interesting piece of video ephemera none the less. I remixed this vid a while ago, Ill add it as a video response ;)

@Rolco64 - That's because prohibition doesn't work, ever. Never has, never will. Humans will use anything to alter their experience, it's been that way for tens of thousands of years and if people want something, you can bet someone's willing to sell it, no matter the penalty for doing so.
This is actualy the best anti-drug video I've ever seen, mostly because the music is amazing and it really seems genuine.

I know of a few school friends who have died from the methadone, which is itself apparently very addicitve

The way to help these people is to give them a hot shot.

Can anyone tell me the Lyrics of the Song playing in the Background? It's sounds so awesome.

I remember they'd show us this film in 1979! Kind of like those old Highway safety movies. Outdated, corny dialog, mediocre acting, and primitive scare tactics. And yet, drug use remains at an all time (forgive the pun) high.

i love the song what is it called
This is by far the best anti-drug film I've ever seen. Nothing majorly over the top or far fetched. No adult narrator trying to use teen phrases. Just straight talk from former addicts , Donnie's mom and a cop. Very good sound track. Still holds up after all these years. Donnie is very skinny, but not too beat up in the face, so I doubt if he really is the addict, but you never know. I'd love to find out who Donnie B was (if he was real) and find out if he kicked or is dead or in jail.

Wow check out the old cigarette windows on the cars lol. This is when society just started to deteriorate, the late 60s. It's funny that in this neighborhood his condition & problem was seen as strange or he as an outcase. Go to a neighborhood like that today & you'll find half the people are like that guy.
