I noticed on this M11 it does not have the red plastic buffer on the recoil assembly. I have a M11 with this part and being plastic, it fell apart due to age (about 30 years old). I can't get another one. Does the M11 need it to fire? What will happen if I fire the gun without it? Anyone have any idea?

Buffer technoligies Makes a new replacement buffer for your m-11 In a pinch you could make one out of some thick leather. I would rather not shoot it without something to take the impact of the bolt.

Are the longer models like these the older ones? This is the sort I want but I dont know how to go about finding one.

i always get a painful trigger slap from my m11 and have not figured out how to reduce/eliminate it. i have not used it for five years.

Yes some how i bent the spring but ordered a new one on usmashinegun .really there was no need to remove the spring for cleaning just spray it with a cleaner. but its go's over the tigger pin - under selector sefety pin. Very easy :)
