My parents did not know what hit them. They bought me a racing "starter set" and I expanded it. Pretty soon I put pressboard down and covered the entire living room floor with this racing set. The grandstands made raceing car sounds. I had painted a parking lot with spaces for all my extra cars and built assorted models for that 10 year old kid "realistic" effect! Thanks to my dad and his love of a 8mm movie camera I have over 6 hours of growing up. Remember, back then a movie was 3 min long, thats 120 movies!

  • like thousands of other middle aged men, I too have rediscovered this great hobby. It's great family fun and it beats the heck out of computer games. The kids today don;t know what theyr're missing!

  • I have not gotten into cars again yet. I wan't to but have invested sooooo much money and time in my toy trains over the last two years. One day in the next year I'll go crazy with cars again. You can see my trains at skyandtrains. com (remove the space before the com) Mike

  • Came across your vid. Boy does this bring back memories. My friend had a four lane race set down his basement. We would bring OUR own cars. We were our own pit crew with spare guide pins, tires, and pick up shoes. Wish we thought of filming of some of the great racing we did down that basement in 1974 thru 77. I had a 72' Plymouth Duster and a RC CanAm racer.

  • Hi, I'm 12 years old and I just dicovered my dad's old AFX track and i'm begging him to find the controlers that are currently lost.

My friends spend time on the computer a fair amount of time. My dad keeps telling me how much fun he had with G-plus cars that go ratio

960km/h or something crazy. I can't wait to try his old toy. Now it's new to me and I'm sure I'll have just as much fun with them as he did when he was 12.

  • No matter what you might think, your son gets bored with all the tech he has. How old is he? I suggest you simply set up the track just to see if it works, you can check out your old cars, ask your son if he has ever seen these before. Leave the track up for a few days, and your cars out, race against him, give him a few cars. I would try it, instead of typing . . . . .!

  • I'm by myself on this. My son is into ...videos, Transformers, .... But I have an Aurora HO collection with cars that don't even have gears.

  • cool dude. I'm 42 years old and I'm getting back into AFX. I still have the cars I did when I was 10 years old. My son and I are gonna have a ball. You have an amazing track. Thanks for posting that clip
