An excerpt from a short documentary I made about the Seattle polka band, The Smilin' Scandinavians. Featuring Toby Hanson talking about the band's humble beginnings to their tour across the mid-west.

  • This sounds more like Klezmer music. Scandinavian it is not. We prefer Schottisches and waltzes. Accordions and fiddles, maybe a guitar. Polkas are pretty much for Germans and Czechs, and your particular style which I've checked out on your website while interesting and good, is NOT Scandinavian style.

  • i love Seattle!

  • Why stop there? We want more!

  • I'm a huge fan. Thanks for the excerpt!

  • Having had the privlege of hearing Toby play at our accordion club

in Vacaville, Ca. several years ago I purdhased his one CD that he had at

that time. I had been playing my Strasser Diatonic Button Accordion for

just 2 or 3 years and felt great when we had our end of the meeting jam session and Toby jamming with us next to me. Boy⁄! did I feel

    great!

I would have liked to heard more of the video and also his polka band!
