2011 and still one of the most fun games I've ever played. This game stayed on my computer for the longest of any I've ever played. Probably 10 years now.

did anyone else notice that when you built your city so big that it wouldnt develop no more. I probably only used less than half of the map and had a population of around 15,000, then everything fucked up, like pottery worksops would be producing pottery but wouldnt take it anywhere, and there was plenty of places to take it, and because of that everything seem to de-evolve. That was the same for all workshop and raw materials.

how the hell do you build a city without it burning down?

you have to build an engineering center, a prefecture and a well near each group of houses

Try seperating industrial areas and populated areas. Also less experienced builders find it easier to build sort of "Jobbers quarters" to populate the city, and creating areas of wealth with preplanned spots. After that you can slowly hammer down the poorer areas and turn them into fancy roman buildings as time and money allows.
