Geisha dance at the gala dinner of the 2nd Asia Cornea Society conference in Kyoto, December 2, 2010. A somewhat slow and monotonous dance and music for the time-stressed hard-working audience.

  • what are they holding? someone please answer?!

  • lovely!!!!

  • if you were visiting..it seems it was a good chance to see them..many japanese only see them on TV or some special event in Kyoto. But I understand about the performance...hope you didn't pass out!

  • The way to tell the difference between maiko and geiko is really easy. First, do they have long or short sleeves and do they have a long obi or short obi. The long sleeves and obi are maiko only. Geiko do not have the long sleeves or obi. Darai obi is the kind of obi maiko wear as well as the name of the knot that the maiko's obi is tied in. It's 21 feet long. Also, when they turn around, is there any sort of red in the collar. If there is, NOT A GEIKO. A geiko's collar is strictly white.

  • Those little Maiko's are just SOOOOO cute!

  • Hisano! <3

  • That is a maiko, a Geisha to be. You can tell the difference by looking on the hair, Maikos usally have flowers and other stuff in the hair, Geishas don't have that.

  • They dance "Hanagasa". They are maiko of Gion Kobu : Takahina, Mameyuri, Keiko (quit), Katsuyuki (now geiko) & Mamesome.

    Thank you for this video.
