A flexwing microlight flight over the French Alps.
This flight was the last of a short course in mountain flying I did when on holiday in the south-east of France in the Alps, I enjoyed it very much and learned so much, many thanks Marcus, the departure airfield Barcelonette is 3500ft amsl and Tallard were we landed is also quite high at 2000ft amsl, Barcelonette is a busy ski resort and a very pretty town, the aircraft we flew in was a Pegasus Quantum powered by a Rotax 912, Tallard airfield itself is a very interesting airfield being the home of the French parachute club as far as I know, with their fantastic long nosed turbine Pilatus Porter aircraft, this video really does not do justice to the amazing scenery of the Alp's, the very large lake with the turquoise water Lac de Serre-Ponçon is as far as I know the largest man made lake in Europe and powers a massive hydro electric generator, I know the picture quality is not the best but the cameras mounted on my helmet as you can see on one of the stills hence the camera bobbing about so much, my camera is an Oregon ATC 2k,
For more microlight info check out, http://pegasusfrance.co.uk/

For more info about flying from Tallard,

Well worth flying with them if you want to try flexwings weightshift microlights in the mountains of France.

  • I see, which aircraft is it you fly then, yes be sure to let me know when you upload your videos.

    Nick.

  • Hello Nick! Awesome flying there, I'm heading out with Marcus next week, flying down from Scotland at 70mph :) Looks like there are some pretty big mountains around there! The scenery looks kind of like Scotland, only that everything is maybe 3 times as high :)

    What's the second tune called?

  • @liomas7 Hi, fantastic I wish I was going to if you have not been before your in for a fantastic time flying with Marcus,

I take it your flying with Marcus in his aircraft all the way from Scotland....wow that will be fantastic, I am envious,

Ok the 2nd tune is called Classical Gas by Mason Williams, If I am not mistaken Elton John plays the piano on it, one of my favourites,

Drop me a line and tell me about your experiences down there at Tallard,

Hope you enjoy flying in the Alps.

    Nick.

  • @nickjaxe Mmmm just realised I gave you the wrong song name......its really,

Groovin` With Mr.Bloe by Mr Bloe,

How did your trip go by the way.

    Nick.

  • Yes but its a difficult camera to turn on and off with very tiny buttons, I would go for something else, I dont use mine now,

There are plenty of similar camera about.

    Nick.

    Hello,

I'm just flying with them in my own. I have a very slow biplane and it matches the speeds of the guys perfectly, so we'll fly down together. It suits me great as I have a fair bit of experience, but the furthest away I've ever been was Saint Omer, near Calais. It's good to be with a bunch of guys who know the ropes in France :)

    I'll upload videos!

    Thanks for the tune's name!

  • cool! Can you also use the oregon ATC 2k for parachute?

  • Nice job.

  • Great Film, really shows why everybody should fly a flexwing. Brilliant quality - could you say what kind of camera set up you had.
