SONOR, UCSD's resident faculty new music ensemble, performs the USA premiere of Slow Dance by guest composer Toshio Hosokawa. The program also includes a piece by Ishmael Wadada Leo Smith, with contrabass virtuoso Bertram Turetzky performing solo accompanied by a small orchestra, and a premiere of a piece by graduate student composer Chris Mercer. By now "new music" is old music, that's true, but nevertheless this piece by Hosokawa is very well composed and nice and therefor unique according to quality, whatever this may be.

This is what is known as "New Music", which is a term from the 70's, so "New Music" is "Old and Tired" music as far as I'm concerned.
