SONOR, UCSD's resident faculty new music ensemble, performs the USA premiere of Slow Dance by guest composer Toshio Hosokawa. The program also includes a piece by Ishmael Wadada Leo Smith, with contrabass virtuoso Bertram Turetzky performing solo accompanied by a small orchestra, and a premiere of a piece by graduate student composer Chris Mercer.   • There is an artistic musical collaboration of different nationalities. A sort of UN thing huh? Very nice indeed.

  • i like it, it puts me in a relaxing mood for some reason.

  • By now "new music" is old music, that's true, but nevertheless this piece by Hosokawa is very well composed and nice and therefor unique according to quality, whatever this may be.

  • This is what is known as "New Music", which is a term from the 70's, so "New Music" is "Old and Tired" music as far as I'm concerned.
