English translation of Jacques Brel's "Mon Enfance" - Sung by Eric Martin in the World Premiere of Jacques Brel's Lonesome Losers of the Night in Chicago.
A stunning version of one of my favourite Brel songs. Beautifully done. The first time I watched it, I wasn't sure about the translation but on subsequent 'listens' I'm realising whoever translated this has done a fine job of interpreting the nuances of meaning in the original lyrics without doing a 'literal' translation. All the original power of the song is there - and Eric, this is a fantastic performance which I keep coming back to time and again. Amazing stuff.
Nice job!! I also checked out your blog... you seem like a cool guy. My fave Bernadette Peters is "Witch's Lament".... I like the way it introduces the "Children Will Listen" theme. Good luck with the auditions. Michael in Milwaukee
