yeah it's definitely a temporal thing especially with the legality enforcement...I assume it was illegal then, too, maybe not....but...that perhaps just not enforced; it was, like, common.

Thanks for the information, very interesting...Must be why I identify with her spirit/feeling/voice/music :) haha I am just finding myself falling in love with these classic jazz artist like her and the more modern (and more so soul than jazz/blues I guess) Nina Simone. It takes strong woman to continue believing in a man/boy/sleezebag; a fine line, but respect for her anyway, and after all, 'it taint nobody's business if she do', right... :)

have you read any books/seen documentaries you wouldn't mind pointing me towards. I'm quite enamored with her as an artist.
