CASSINI's DIVISION - Bards, Storytellers, Entertainers ....

In 2001 Cassini's Division burst onto the Indian music scene with their distinctive brand of emotionally charged original alternative rock. They fuse elements of hiphop and pop with hard-edged lyrics and soaring anthemic melodies to create a powerful heavy rock sound.

Cassini's Division was among the three finalists on 'Channel V Launchpad III'. Jury member Vishal Dadlani referred to them as being "the band with the most unique sound and striking lyrics -- a different space altogether".

Cassini's Division was also Pan Asian finalist on 'Sutasi' -- a televised event aimed at highlighting the best talent in Asia in contemporary music. Yet again, the panelists on the show called them "a truly original band with something to say". They were winners in the popular choice category.

Cassini's Division was showcased at Nokia Music Connects 2010, Mumbai, India's leading international music industry conference.

The Band

Rahul Guha Roy, the lead singer, is the rapper bard whose lyrics are the driving force of the band. A prolific poet, his songs are like a slice of the times we live in. Sukanti Roy plays guitar, John Noel Bose is on bass, and Ludo aka Ritoban Das handles percussion and drums.

RINGSIDE VIEW - The Debut Album

After a decade of live shows and tours, Cassini's Division has just released their debut album 'Ringside View' recorded, mixed and mastered by International executive producer Simon Henderson from UK, under the Saregama-HMV label. Henderson, who has worked with the likes of Alan Parsons Project and Depeche Mode, says the album promises a truly international sound unique to the band: "I am filled with excitement as to the huge potential of this band. Each song tells a very unique story, yet this is not a bunch of hippies making a concept album, these are a group of well educated, very well read, cool guys," says Simon on his website.

This music video is the 1st video for the promotion of the album.
