@hojima Around 2003 his vocals started to change. Compare Petitioning the Empty Sky with No Heroes or You Fail Me, you can hear his "live vocals" on the later albums.

@DrDazzleFTW In any case, it pales in comparison to the recorded stuff. It loses all the high harmonic content.

@hojima That's just his way of doing vocals live. They've been a band for 20 years, I highly doubt he's just never been able to do it or never gotten better.

The amount of hate Converge gets from little kids raised on Attack Attack, etc. is kind of alarming. You kids do know Converge are one of the most respected bands in punk and hardcore? And for good reason. If it wasn't for these guys, none of your favourite bands would exist. Deal with it.

@motorbikeTim1 Converge definitely isn't for everyone. But I sincerely doubt they "hate music". They reject melody, and embrace dissonance. Lots of jazz, even classical composers have been known to completely throw melody away in favour of creating something harsh, something that truly personifies anger. I think that's why Converge are popular, and it's one of the reasons I like them. I've never heard something so brutal, so filled with raw emotion. Nobody does cacophony like Converge.
