  • hi! i'm writing a performance piece based on a dance style much like yours, i was wondering if there's a specific name you call this type of ballet?

  • @wittyworldlee ,

I don't have a specific name, but my style of movement is lyric, Humphrey/Wideman based. My dances have a story that illuminates our human condition, feelings and challenges. hope that helps.

  • oooo i love it! what's the music?

  • Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for saying so.

The music is a mix of Zoe Keating ("We Insist", "Legion") and Apocolytica ("Nothing Else Matters") mixed with sounds of war.

  • Profoundly moving in context of our political situation. After all, every soldier is someone's lover and someone's child.

  • wooww it's beautiful ,, i like the music

  • Very powerful Amanda, beautiful. Nice work!

  • Would it be possible to make an 'anti-war' ballet - like the War Requiem? Or one of Wilfred Owen's poems like 'the pity of war'?

This ballet was so extremely moving and deserved 100% stardom.

  • The original song is Nothing Else Matters from Metallica. This is the cello cover of it, played by ApocAlyptica. (I`m talking about the first song from this video)

  • You're lucky you can even get 1 star! Mine seem to have been COMPLETELY disabled.

As for the ballet: only one word for it - spectacular.

I'm a pacifist but accept that, unfortunately, there has to be something as stupid as war. This describes the soldiers' and his wife's sadness about war. As Wilfred Owen said, and rightly, 'the poetry lies in the pity' and this ballet descibes it perfectly. If I had stars, there wouldn't be enough!

  • Wow; I've never been so drawn in to a dance, especially a pas de duex, or one so long. Genius. Excellent choices of music too.
