@RazorAceYU well its a good plane in my opinion , not much of an air to ai fighter tho , its more of a strike fighter but can just as leathal in air to air as much as it will be in air to ground. another good option would be the super hornet , not many countrys look into it but would be another good option.

Norway is so insignificant in terms of Air Force that stealth hardly justifies as a good argument for picking F-35. Besides, it was reveled by Wikileaks that US pressured Norway to buy the F-35, because if they didn't choose it, other countries might not go for the F-35.

@RazorAceYU yea but the f-35 is stealthy and abit smarter than the grippen

@DOMIZER The Gripen A/B/C/D uses the RM12 engine, a Volvo Aero modified GE F404 engine (which is the same as in the F/A-18A/B/C/D aircrafts). It's primarily modified for a single-engine usage and with increased effect aswell as increased reliability. The Gripen NG uses a modified version of the F414 engine (which is the same as the Super Hornet), giving the engine more reliability, more suited for single-engine use and a effect booster. So yes, it uses 1 General Electric F414 engine.

@wellerocks wait so wats the maximum speed of the Gripen? and is this fighter faster than the f-16 considering the engine is way bigger?

@DOMIZER The Gripen has a maximum speed of Mach 2+. The Gripen A/B/C/D has been able to supercruise under the right circumstances at a speed just above that of the speed of sound whilst the NG (E/F) will be able to supercruise at Mach 1.2. The engine gives the A/B/C/D versions a T/W ratio of about 0.97 whilst the NG has a T/W ratio of about 1.13 fully equipped. So yes, the Gripen is faster than the F-16.
