Another track from Bob Goodman's tapes, recorded in the Duke of Cumberland, Cottingham, East Riding of Yorkshire.

Accompanied by a look round the garden in Springtime.

  • What a pretty garden! Even the so-called weeds are pretty. The music was great and I enjoyed everything about this video. AND I was born at 52 south Street in Cottingham!

  • I specialise in letting the 'weeds' have their fling before removing them each year. If you want to telll a weed from a flower - the weeds are the ones that grow again when you have killed them.

My 'wild' thistle is now six feet high!

  • I'm a keen on gardening, but someone needs to comment on a terrific and swinging version of this song. Kudos!

  • I tried to reply earlier but it got lost out there... somewhere. Anyway, as a botanist I don't believe in weeds but I do pull out the garlic cress that's overrunning this country. My thistle is only 2 feet tall, but flowering already. I'll keep you posted on its progress. El

  • sounds like a real live jazz band to me, playing a really good tune!!

  • ...that wasn't post jazz. That was like new orleans big band stuff.
