Yes but it's that aspect alone that makes us view you as if you were wearing a swastika. Please tell me why we secular westerners should not think this way when, as you well know, Sharia Law kills those exercising their basic human right to free speech... along with stoning adulterers, hanging gays etc etc...

I mean that we value our basic freedoms as much as you do the Quran. Surely it's logical for us to despise your beliefs?

@blackmore4 Firstly, thank you for you questions and comments, secondly Shariah law has been misused by so called 'Muslim' countries. Shariah isn't about oppressing, and taking away people's rights, but rather protecting them, especially within a Islamic state. I suggest you do a little research on the issue yourself from Islamic scholars, many books have been translated into english from many Islamic scholars. Also check out Shiekh Belial phillips 'Contemporary issues' Whic discusses Shariah.

Instead of whitewashing it, why don't you head over to the Muslim countries and try to argue with them about how they are misinterpreting it. There is no reason for us to take your word against that of all the so-called learned scholars. The proof is in the pudding. Grow up and leave Islam. Oh wait, there's the death penalty for that.

Why doesn't Sharia law work in democracy? Here's a simple example: In Afghanistan (an Islamic Republic again) the constitution guarantees freedom of religion. Sharia law says that an unrepentant apostate muslim must be killed. There have been at least two high profile cases where only international intervention saved the life of two such men. Sharia law is only compatible w/democracy if 100% of the people are muslims and no one wants to change.

I have lived two "Islamic Republics," (Sudan and Afghanistan, also pre-revolution Iran and have visited extensively a dozen predominantly muslim countries. There are positive sides like friendliness, hospitality, safety in the streets (if you are muslim or not challenging the status quo.) But the oppression is horrific if you "leave" islam or even question traditional islam. You will always be a second class citizen if you are not muslim (not so in western democracies if you are not "Christian")

I don`t know why Black men and women tolerate islam let alone become muslim, Because when islam came to Africa 1400 years ago it started the slave trade any black man or woman who refused to convert was sold as a slave in the Arab world. Arabs are still enslaving Africans. Yet you learn to say Arab phrases from the qur`an and take Arab names.
