This brings back memories of my childhood when First Alert originally had these in the stores. I also remember an identical model to the 2nd (Larger Box) which came out about 84 or so except that it featured an escape light. There was also an earlier version of both those models (with the domed button) which had a brass squealer horn rather than a piezo. I believe that model existed around 79-80 and was also sold by Sears and BRK but I could be wrong.

I noticed on the SA76RC you just got, it has a green circut board. Usually Canadian First Alert Smoke Alarms have the green writing, and the American made First Alerts have the red circut board.

Do people actually COLLECT these things? Hey, if you want my old one, I'll send it to you if you pay the shipping!
The reason I'm even AT this site is because I was curious how old the unit was. I guess it's about 27 years old. (Came with the house.) That's pretty good, considering it only started sending false alarms (with brand-new battery installed) in the past several months. I'll probably replace it with a Kidde model which has both photoelectric AND ionization detectors AND a CO detector.

@burlingtonbill1 Yep, we do collect these. What is yours like? I'll consider that offer.
