What's easer to heal? A broken bone or your soul?
I felt the day my ankle broke, was the day my mind was renewed. I did my best to try and read The confessions of St. Augustine. This book is about 1700 years old. The part the stuck with me is 'True blessings will never distract You from God.'
If this is true then equally true is this, if You want God to truly bless You it might just be in ways you wouldn't call a blessing.
I've had many blessing in my life but the biggest one happened to me Friday morning Jan.12 2007 as I rode my skateboard down a winding B.C. mountain road. I was trying to develop a new way of stopping and as I was going pretty fast I pushed the tail of the board to the ground to try and slow down (this has worked for me in the past at slower speeds) but part of my foot touched the ground and I twisted my ankle outwards. I went to the hospital for 3 days and had surgery and now I have a plate on my ankle bone.
I'm sure a lot of people would ask how can I call this a blessing? I've been in church and reading the bible a lot over the past few years. I've sometimes looked at it as a game where I move up the latter and gain more gold stars and wrap my geo around being in the Christian spotlight.
I've herd that Jesus died for my sins and I will go to heaven because I believe in Him. I've herd that a sign of someone who believes in Jesus is that the Holy Spirit of God will live in ones heart and mind. A believer will begin to love the things that God loves and hate the things God hates. Man, my who life I've wanted to be fully there! But I haven't been. I've done good to look good. I'm sad to say I stopped doing most of my sins, out of the fear judgment. I must say, I've craved even looking like the guy who loves God and does good because he loves to.
How is a broken leg a blessing? As I layed in the hospital bed God let me know that I don't need to do anything but trust that Him and I are on good terms forever because His Son Jesus took the punishment of my sins away.
It's a blessing to know all I need to do is believe. I'm not trying to get any gold starts anymore. It's a huge deep drive coming from my heart I just want to do good and help people.
I am blessed because it took a broken leg for me to understand that God truly wants to bless You. l'm not asking for a round of broken legs but my prayer is this "Lord God truly bless my friends, family and the one reading/watching this, Lord God truly bless us, amen."

True blessings will never distract You from God.
May God truly bless You.

  • God bless bro

  • @likeaflint good answer. well said

  • @BigMidget06 You bring up hard questions I've asked myself in my teen years of just starting to read the bible. Yes it's a good question and one that almost got me to give up on God. However I struggled with this after I already believed 100% that the God discribed in the Bible is real. With this being believed. I felt I had 2 choices after death. To give up on God and be seperated from everyone anyway. 2) Not only believe that God can save me, but one day save my family as well. This is my hope

  • @likeaflint well thats true. it may not be boring but the more i think about it the worse it seems. i mean what if you have loved ones that go to hell. how can you possibly be happy without god removing your sense of sadness and forcing you to be happy. seems cruel from my perspective. still i must thank you for being very kind in your responses even when this first started out with me being angry at you for refusing to use a crutch. may your god continue to watch over you :P

  • @BigMidget06 What you say is true if heaven was just a permanent earth.

Many people (in church or not) believe and view God, church and the Bible without any personality. It's sad, like an unloved spouce in a dead marriage.God has a personality. It can be found in the words we read about Jesus. If God is the root of all life and as creative as the universe declares; it won't be borring to have such a friend forever.

  • @likeaflint meh heaven didnt really sound fun anyways. living forever makes living seem pointless. if theres an end to things it makes working on your life that much more important.

  • @BigMidget06 Those r all good & I hope they r always with u. But what happens after u take ur last breath? My hope is in God.

  • @likeaflint my crutch would be my family and the people i depend on i guess. those would include the doctors that worked on my broken limb, the therapist who help me recover, and my friends for support.

  • @BigMidget06 The question I'm trying to ask is; 'what is your Crutch? Your faith or your theory.' Not speaking of your 6 week crutch or high school hobby but what is the mindset in which you base your decisions on.
