I have just ordered the 500 GB model for my MBP, in Germany its about 107 EUR now. The main reason buying it is the Firewire 800 connection, I see no advantage using the oldschool slow USB 2.0 connection but pay more than hundred bucks for an external drive as you could also buy a different WD drive with 1 TB storage space for the same price (but almost 50% slower)

My Passport(tm) AV Portable and WD My Passport(tm) Studio are amazing drives but w/o USB 3.0 support they not interesting for me. Do you know how long to fill 640GB via obsolete USB 2.0? i know :) i have a My Passport (tm) Essential 500GB.

@ETwo2EFour this is a very good point, though not many people have USB 3.0 yet. They will soon though.
