Wedding of the Painted Doll

(1929) Tenor
Charles King

(Speed Corrected)

From the Talkie:
"Broadway Melody" (1929)

For some strange reason, Victor speeded up all four of Charles King's recordings which they released in 1929. I have correct the speed as I have a variable speed control on my phonograph to his natural singing voice. In my opinion the records sound much better at this normal speed.

  • Recorded on April 11, 1929. This was probably recorded around 74rpm, which is why it sounds "faster" when played at the standard "78" speed. Perhaps the recording equipment was "off", although some records were recorded during that period at various speeds from 74 to 82rpm.
