Original Song "Gomer"

I wrote this song at 4:30 in the morning. It's in response to Hosea, a book in the Bible. Here are the lyrics:




These other suitors just don't hold it for me.
They seem quite nice, but don't have what I need.
I feel that my heart drags behind my feet,
when i come stumbling back to you.

Your arms close around me, welcome me in.
The tears start in my eyes and fall from my chin.
You frown as you ask me, knowing where i have been.
I can see the hurt in your eyes.

I curse the way you always take me back.
Heat up the water, draw me a bath.
It won't wash off, the pain I can't mask.
But you hold me just the same.

Just like gomer, I've betrayed you again.
Another night in the arms of a terrible friend.
I shiver and goosebumps cover my skin.
I know you'll never understand.

I think it would be easier if you'd leave me.
Or raise your voice, and throw me out on the street.
But you take me back, even though I'm doomed to repeat it.
It burns me up inside.

You don't let me wear my guilt on my sleeve.
You tell me I'm yours, and that you'll never leave.
No one deserves this less than me.
