From the Bel Canto Opera production, the villainous Monostatos, the Queen of the Night and the Three Ladies arrive to slay Sarastro, but his virtuous powers overcome them, and good triumphs over evil.
MONOSTATOS: Keep out of sight, they're quite suspicious...
They might suspect our vengeful plot.
QUEEN and LADIES: Sarastro's vicious and malicious
You must dispatch him on the spot!
MONOSTATOS: Your Highness, when he's dead,,, you promised...Pamina would be my reward.
QUEEN: Yes, that's what I said. You'll have Pamina, but only if you wield the sword. She's your reward when Sarastro has been gored.
MONOSTATOS: The skies are black, the earth is quaking. The heavens heed this gruesome deed.
QUEEN AND LADIES: Yes, feel the ground beneath us shaking...an omen to proceed with speed.
MONOSTATOS: They'll come here for the coronation.
ALL: We will attack the celebration,
and finish off this evil reign.
In pain, Sarastro will be slain.
MONOSATOS AND LADIES: Oh Queen of Night, so long reviled.
Oh, Queen of Night, so rightly riled.
Death to the father of your child!
(Sarastro appears)
ALL: Sarastro wields magic more potent than ours
We're vanquished, defeated, destroyed by his powers.
