Since they play the Mario theme like 4 different ways in this concert, I guess they were looking for an excuse to bring out the Mario costume and this singer.
With that said, this concert otherwise KICKS ASS. Especially the Super Mario 64 Theme, Slider, and the Zelda half of the concert.
