Weekly test at noon every monday, but today, June 15th, was a good day to test as in the afternoon/evening there was a lot of severe weather. The siren Is only about 50 yards from my front door. (No, I'm not going to record the entire thing, and I think its stupid when they go off and people go outside to hear what it says)

  • Newton doesn't have any vortexes--that I know of.

  • @snootzie78 No idea what they have, don't really care either.. The boxes on the poles they are on say Whelen, but generally when they go off and it's not on a Monday, I'm out and about.

  • Whelen WPS 2806s

  • Newton has Omnis

  • lol, before this.. long sounding test.. there is a like a 10 second wail.. then a pause.. then a recording that says why they went off... such as..

*wail* ,pause, "This is a test.....This is only....a test....of the....emergency....warning...system....this is only.... a test..." ,pause,.. *3-4 minute wail* ,pause, , then repeat the previous recording.. great stuff

  • those scare the living fuck out of me

  • they are actually the wps 2900 series i believe

  • It doesn't sound like it's rotating.

  • Nice catch! The siren that's near you is a Whelen Vortex or WPS-4000.
