There are eight large holes on top of the ocarina, and two on bottom.
The right hand fingers cover the four on your top right.
The left hand fingers cover the four on your top left.
The right hand thumb covers the bottom one on your right.
The left hand thumb covers the bottom one on your left.
Each note has a name.
When all ten main holes are covered is Do.
Lift the right little finger for Re.
Also lift the right ring finger for Mi.
Also lift the right middle finger for Fa.
Also lift the right index finger for Sol.
Also lift the left ring finger for La.
Also lift the left middle finger for Ti.
Also lift the left index finger for Do+.
Also lift the left thumb for Re+.
Also lift the right thumb for Mi+.
Also lift the left little finger for Fa+.
Practice playing these in order. Collectively they are called the Major Scale.
The first song we'll learn to play is Mary Had A Little Lamb.
Mi-Re-Do-Re-Mi-Mi-Mi
Re-Re-Re
Mi-Sol-Sol
Mi-Re-Do-Re-Mi-Mi-Mi
Mi-Re-Re-Mi-Re-Do.
Practice this tune until you can play it easily before proceeding to Lesson Two.
