The Met Lofts, a residential building just east of the LA Convention Center, Staples Center and LA Live in the "South Park" district of Downtown LA, has a really neat light show as part of its design. It was executed by the art collective Electroland, and is affected by people leaving and entering the building, and stepping on the tiles in the lobby. Seen from the street, the light show resembles a game of Tetris. A little vintage Moog music makes the moment a bit more festive. It is getting close to that "festive season," you know...
Shot with a Flip Mino HD 2nd Gen video camera, massaged into usable form with the excellent Mac freeware utility MPEG Streamclip, (grazie, guys...) and trimmed a bit in Final Cut Express 4.0.1. Made with Mac, baby. Watch in 720p for best results.
Yes, it is. What's even cooler is how the inhabitants and visitors to the building change the display as they walk in the lobby. Thanks for checking this out, Flip-ers! I have more stuff to put up from my Mino HD, in fact I was testing out its night shooting mettle only a few hours ago. It's my "always have it with me" camera now. Can't always lug the Nikon around but this? A faithful go anywhere companion.
