In the hit HBO show Entourage, Johnny Drama was treated for a medical problem described as Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy. A visitor of the website VideoMD asked if this was a real diagnosis, or did they just make this up. It turns out that they did their research as this is a real disease. It is also referred to as the "Broken Heart Syndrome", because is commonly occurs in somone who is having a major life stressor, such as the death of a loved one. It is also called the "Apical Ballooning Syndrome" since the tip (or apex) of the heart balloons out, when is should be contracting inward with the rest of the heart muscle. It mimics a heart attack, but doctors find no blockage in the persons heart arteries.
